Information Concerning Burning

The burning ban has been lifted, due to the recent rain fall. If you would like to have an open burn on your property, please follow these guidelines:

1. Call 1-800-CAL-BURN prior to lighting your fire. The recorded message you will hear states whether the day is or is not a burn day. Yard burning may only be conducted on burn days.
2. Yard burning is for residential property only.
3. No trash, lumber, tires, etc. may be burned. Only yard trimmings.
4. A responsible person must be in attendance at all times with proper clearance around the fire with tools and a water hose ready.
5. Please burn only in daylight hours. A fire during dark hours leads neighbors and passersby to think there is a wild fire burning.
6. Renters or tenants may conduct a yard burn, only with written permission of the property owner.
7. By especially mindful and considerate of the smoke your fire is producing. Dry material will burn hotter and cleaner than wet/green material, leaves and piles mixed with dirt. Your smoke may have a negative effect on a neighbors health.
8. Arrange your yard trimmings in small piles, rather than one large pile. This will help avoid the potential of the fire becoming unmanageable and spreading.
